Superb Victorian rosewood jewellery box by Parkins & Gotto.

A fine quality Victorian rosewood jewellery box by Parkins & Gotto, Oxford Street, London. With wonderful rosewood veneers throughout, the edges banded in brass. To the top there is a vacant brass shield-shaped cartouche and to the front a matching keyhole escutcheon.

The box opens to reveal the original mahogany interior, re-lined in a rich cotton moire and luxurious red silk velvet, the inside of the lid and the central tray section further enhanced by gold thread embroidery. The lift-out tray reveals a further storage area beneath. To the rear of the box a brass button releases the front lower drawer, similarly re-lined. With inset makers label to drawer edge.

The box has been cleaned and professionally French polished and is in showroom condition.
