A fine quality Victorian rosewood sewing / jewellery box by Mechi, Leadenhall Street, London.

The wonderful mellow coloured rosewood intricately inlaid with fine brass lines and floral decoration in brass, abalone and mother of pearl.

The box opens to reveal the original interior lined in patterned paper and silk satin material both of which are in remarkable condition. The panel in the lid drops forward to reveal a document pouch with makers label to reverse.

The box has been cleaned and professionally French polished and is in showroom condition.

With working lock & tassled key.
