Fine Victorian burr walnut sewing / jewellery box.

A fine quality Victorian burr walnut jewellery / sewing box, the well chosen veneers to the front and top banded in ebony, the corners with a concave moulding. The top has a central mother of pearl cartouche banded in ebony and the front has matching keyhole escutcheon.

The box opens to reveal the well fitted original interior, the lid with ruched silk panel which conceals a document pouch. The lift-out tray fitted with various compartments, some with lids, reveals a large storage area beneath.
