Extra large Victorian walnut & inlaid sewing / jewellery box.

A good quality Victorian figured walnut jewellery box of unusually large size, the top and front banded with geometric marquetry lines, the canted corners further inlaid. The top has a vacant central cartouche and the front a matching keyhole escutcheon.

The box retains it's original interior with lift-out tray fitted with various compartments with silk covers. To the lid is the usual pull down document pouch behind the rouched silk panel. Interior in superb condition with only a small patch of wear to the silk around the retaining clip.

With working lock & tassled key.

Whilst we have had quite a few boxes of this design in the past this is the only one we have ever seen of this size - see the last image alongside a 'standard' sized box to see the difference. If you want a large box of this type this may be your one and only opportunity!
