Exceptional Victorian amboyna and kingwood brass inlaid jewellery box.

A superb French Palais Royale style jewellery box, all sides veneered in amboyna with kingwood highlights and coromandel inserts tothe corners. The top and front with further brass floral inlays to the coromandel panels. The top has a highly decorative central brass cartouche. The whole edged in brass.

The box has been re-lined in a purple cotton moire fabric and fine deep purple silk velvet, the lift-out tray with original brass handles revealing a further storage area beneath. 

To both the left and right of the box there is a brass panel with three screws. The central screw on the right panel is actually a button which releases the spring-loaded side drawer to the side.

Of exceptional quality throughout and the only one of it's type we have seen.

With working lock & tassled key. (Key requires two full turns to lock & unlock)
