A Victorian walnut veneered jewellery box, the  top with vacant shield-shaped brass cartouche with swag beneath, the front with matching keyhole escutcheon. The box edges are banded in ebony for contrast.

The box opens to reveal the original mahogany interior re-lined with a purple cotton moire fabric and complimentary luxurious  purple silk velvet. The lift-out tray reveals a further storage area beneath. To the rear of the box a brass button releases the front drawer, similarly re-lined. Please note the camera has converted the moire to a more blue colour - it is actually a pale cadbury purple with dark purple silk.
