Fine & large coromandel jewellery box by Halstaff & Hannaford.

A fine quality large coromandel jewellery box by Halstaff & Hannaford, Regent Street, London. The well chosen coromandel veneers edged in brass throughout, the top with brass monogram.

The box opens to reveal a fully fitted original interior in dark green Moroccan leather, re-lined in a luxurious dark green silk velvet. With two lift-out trays revealing a further storage area beneath. To the rear of the box a brass button releases the front drawer, similarly re-lined in silk velvet.

The lid houses the original solid coromandel mirror with brass lines released by a secret button behind the lock keep. With original foxed mirror plate and original ruched silk velvet backing. Note the colour is much closer to the new lining than in the photos due to the slightly different pile on the velvet. The mirror backing is integral to it being free-standing and is in excellent condition so we chose to retain it.

Behind the mirror is a document wallet with makers label to the interior.
