Fine antique figured walnut jewellery box by Parkins & Gotto

A fine and rare Victorian burr walnut jewellery box by Parkins & Gotto, Oxford Street. With inlaid brass stringing and rounded brass edging, the top with a round engraved cartouche, the key escutcheon also inlaid.

The lid opens to reveal a deep red moroccan leather & silk velvet lined interior. Inside the lid is a detachable mirror. removed via a secret button under the lock keep. Can be used independently or inside the lid, either by re-inserting in reverse or using the gilt metal mounts located behind. Behind the mirror is a leather wallet for stationery.

A button at the rear releases the drawer to the from of the box, revealing a further silk lined storage area and a further button to the left releases the right hand drawer. The makers name is inset to the top of the drawer front.
